The Kinetec Spectra Kompanion

The Kinetec Spectra Kompanion knee-moving machine was developed to perfection in consultation with physiotherapists, starting from its predecessor, the Kinetec Spectra. The Kinetec Kompanion technology has been designed to meet the latest healthcare professionals requirements and guide (or accompany) their patients through a unique yet efficient CPM rehabilitation process. The Kompanion features a number of additional therapy modes to vary and adapt the exercises to the needs and progression of the patient.

Parameters

  • Weight: 12 kg
  • Dimensions: 95 x 33 x 33cm
  • Width: 33 cm
  • Speed: 40°-tól 145°-ig per minute
  • Patient size:
    • height: 145-195cm
    • full leg length: 71-99 cm
    • tibia: 38-53cm
    • femur: 33-46cm
    • weight: 135 kg
  • Angular limits: -10 to 120 degrees
  • Hip movement: 75 to 10 degrees
SPRING MODE
It allows knee movement to focus on the lower and upper 10 degree ranges, It repeats the movement 3 times the last 10° of extension and flexion.
EXTEMITY FOCUS MODE
The speed will be minimal during the first 10° and the last 10° of the movement. The speed will be faster during the rest of the range of motion. This is especially useful if you want to increase the dynamics of the knee-moving machine, but for the patient, moving in the extreme ranges is still painful.
DYNAMIC STRECH MODE
Mode used with patients having difficulties reaching full extension. The device will gradually extend the knee with pauses in between each stretching.

The Kinetec Spectra

The Kinetec Spectra knee machine has been developed for a wide range of rehabilitation purposes. This passive knee-moving machine enables comfortable rehabilitation and achieves the desired effect with no-load movement. The machine can be used to move the operated, injured leg and hip without load. It prevents narrowing of the range of motion, maintains the range of motion achieved and helps to increase the range of motion gradually, painlessly. This is one of the lightest knee-moving machines available, which is especially useful when the machine needs to be lifted and placed in the desired location. Its operator is simple and you can learn to use it in a matter of seconds. There are countless possibilities to adjust the parameters of the movement so that we can tailor it to our current needs. The knee-moving machine only needs to be adjusted to the patient's knee once and then only the treatment unit needs to be operated.

When and Who should use it?

Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) is a postoperative rehabilitation therapy designed to aid in patient recovery after joint surgery, soft tissue surgical procedure or trauma. For patients who want to promote their own rehabilitation and support the work of a physiotherapist. The CPM should be started on the day after your surgery or as instructed by your physician. An early postoperative start of the CPM therapy helps to prevent negative effects of immobilization. We recommend using the machine until the active flexion reaches at least 90 degree and the patient can start using exercise bike. From then on, physiotherapy provides rapid development. Remember that renting and using a knee CPM machine is not a substitute for proper physiotherapy!

It is recommended for use in the following cases:
  • Before and after knee surgery
  • Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction (ACL)
  • After joint soft tissue surgeries
  • Joint stiffness, contracture even if there was no surgery
  • After hip replacement surgery
  • Meniscus repair
  • In case of hip fractures
  • After fractures of the knee (ie. supracondyler femur fracture)
  • Prolonged joint immobiilzation

We would like to highlight that the use of a knee CPM machine is not recommended in case of unstable fractures and thrombosis. Also, if you develop a fever or acute inflammation, stop using the knee-moving machine immediately and contact your doctor immediately. Rehabilitation of the injured limb can be continued with a knee-moving machine under the supervision of a doctor / physiotherapist after the problems have ceased.
